Aid Chaplain Koeman's Goal to Help Afghan Children
Children in Afghanistan are in great need
Spirit of America is aiming to help Chaplain Scott Koeman in
his efforts to provide for children in Southern Afghanistan. In his initial
email to us, Chaplain Koeman illuminated the hardships he experiences in the
country: “I've been deployed to this country before
and have been in many villages...and I'm always amazed and grieved by the same
thing--children living in scandalous conditions. The faces of the very young
and very old impact each Soldier that has visited/patrolled a village or city.”
Chaplain Koeman explained how
providing critically needed items like blankets and shoes also helps our soldiers in
harm’s way: “Our Soldiers gain
trust and credibility with the local population when they bring Humanitarian
Aid. In turn, this enables us to learn more from the locals how we can stop the
enemy that wages war not only against us, but mainly against the stability of
the Afghan government. The sooner we can bring stability to this land the
sooner the Afghan people prosper and our Forces can return home. “
