Army SFC Kevin Albrecht-Supplies for Iraqi Bedouins
Help SFC Albrecht provide tarps, school supplies, hygiene kits, and more
With the collapse of Saddam Hussein's dictatorial regime, Iraq's Bedouins are emerging from their desert isolation. Since U.S. forces moved into Iraq, the country's southern Bedouin tribes have started shedding their fear. They are returning with their flocks of sheep and camels to fertile grazing grounds near the Euphrates.
Army Sergeant First Class (SFC) Kevin Albrecht serving with the 4th Brigade Combat Team stationed at Camp Adder at Tallil Airbase in south-central Iraq requests supplies to improve conditions for Iraq's Bedouins. Items such as school kits for the 200 student school nearby, hygiene kits, soccer balls, baby clothes and shoes are needed. In addition, the tents that Bedouins use as homes are in need of tarps to repair holes and to cover the hard ground where families sleep. With your generous contribution to this project, Spirit of America will provide the needed supplies so that SFC Albrecht can leave a legacy of hope for these Iraqis.

Request From SFC Albrecht
Below are excerpts from several emails from SFC Albrecht explaining the project needs: First off, I want to thank all of you for the effort that is put into the work that is done in support of our efforts here. The next generation will understand and carry on the efforts from the example that all of you are setting back there...
It has been really busy here keeping trac k of the Bedouins in the area; a lot of them have moved away from the area to go closer to the water during the rainy season. I would like that very much if you would be able to send out the soccer balls. The kids always ask if we have any [as] they just love wsoccer. School kits would be great. We have a school right near by, hygiene kits, beanie babies, baby clothes...and some flip flops in assorted sizes for the kids...

[Also] if it would be possible to get some tarps to help them fix their tents. The Bedouins basically live in cloth tents that they piece together from whatever they find. The tarps would be beneficial to either repair the tent or to use on the ground where they sleep. We will be taking them to the camps for most of the Bedouins and the rest we will be letting them know to come to a location for pick up..."--Army SFC Kevin Albrecht, Camp Adder Tallil, Iraq
