Army Major Poirier-Bring Light and Hope to Africa

Help Army Maj. Michael Poirier bring supplies to children and solar lanterns to Senegal

Poverty, lack of education and limited access to basic utilities  make circumstances difficult for many in Senegal.  Army Major Michael Poirier contacted Spirit of America to help provide basic supplies such as school kits, hygiene kits and soccer balls.  In addition, solar powered lanterns are needed to bring light where no electricity is available. Your generous contributions to this project will allow Spirit of America to provide all of these supplies and more.

Major Poirier details what is needed
"Thank you for the quick response.  The children here could absolutely benefit from the supplies listed below. Backpacks with school supplies Beanie babies. Hygiene kits Soccer balls Hacky sacks and other small pocket toys for the children After conducting several village visits, it has become apparent to me that the people are in dire need of electricity for light.  Actually, during my most recent visit to a village, I learned that the nurse used candles in the maternity delivery room for light.  I believe that the greatest impact we could make is to distribute solar lanterns to public facilities such as this one.  If this is an item you can requisition, the people here would be eternally grateful...and of course we would send a story and pictures of the impact your contribution has made."--Army Major Michael Poirier, Senegal
