USMC Sgt. Zeigler Requests Supplies for Ramadi

US Marine Corps Sgt. Brody Zeigler seeking soccer equipment and school supplies for Ramadi

USMC Sgt. Brody Zeigler shares a smile
Just a few short months ago, the situation in Ramadi in Anbar Province Iraq was unstable to the point that just going outside was potentially dangerous. But the US military in cooperation with the Iraqi Army have improved the security situation significantly and can now work to improve the quality of life in the area. USMC Sgt. Brody Zeigler and the 3rd Battalion 7th Marines want to provide for local children by giving them school supplies and soccer equipment. Many of you are getting ready for back-to-school and the Fall soccer season, and you can help Iraqi children get ready, too!

Original Request: Soccer Uniforms & School Supplies
"My name is Sgt. Zeigler I am the Information Operation NCO for 3rd Battalion 7th Marines. We are trying to develop the city of Ramadi and improve the way of life for its people. So far there, we have had many successful projects and currently are establishing a soccer field for the local neighborhood. I am writing because we don't have a lot of funding for soccer balls and other items the people could use. We are also trying to develop a soccer league but uniforms are not available. The schools in the area are currently being refurbished but school supplies are not accessible for us to hand out to the children. These are only a few of the projects we have but there are many more [and] any assistance that your company can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time." Sgt. Zeigler B.M. There are approximately 900 school children in Sgt. Zeigler's area, and they would like 1000 uniforms and cleats to start a soccer league in Ramadi.

Project Status

December, 2007: 500 school backpacks were donated by Spirit of America and distributed by Sgt. Zeigler. Though we allocated funds for soccer supplies, Sgt. Zeigler rotated out of the country before a purchase could be finalized. We will use that funding for another similiar request.
